Mr. Berkelhammer's practice focuses on corporate and real estate law. He serves as general counsel to local and regional companies advising them on a variety of legal issues, including corporate governance, financing transactions, employment issues, and mergers and acquisitions. His merger and acquisition experience includes sales of closely held companies to NYSE companies as well as smaller private transactions. He represents clients in a variety of real estate transactions, including a substantial practice assisting developers of affordable housing. In connection with his real estate practice, he assists in structuring the transaction and the entities, obtaining necessary governmental approvals, negotiating applicable contracts, and working closely with financing sources.

Mr. Berkelhammer is one of the founders of Chace Ruttenberg & Freedman, LLP. He was formerly a partner in the Providence law firm of Tillinghast Licht & Semonoff, LLP.
